Description: This position involves providing the technical component of IONM. The technical component involves placement of appropriate electrodes, acquisition of high-quality data, data recording, troubleshooting problems, and providing a description of the recordings. Candidates are required to have a current Certification in Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring (“CNIM”).

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Discuss needs for suitable IONM conditions with attending physician, anesthesiologist, and anesthetist;
  2. Perform pre-IONM evaluation of the patient via medical chart and/or personal communication preoperatively;
  3. Perform monitoring of intracranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve procedures including but not limited to:
  4. Assessing neural integrity; and,
  5. Mapping or procedure guidance within “at-risk” neural structures;
  6. Perform post-IONM examination of the patient and assess any operative injuries of the patient; and,
  7. Compilation of a report for surgeon’s records of patient’s status intraoperatively. This will include:
  8. Patient history;
  9. Surgical procedure(s) performed;
  10. Types of modalities recorded;
  11. Description of baseline activity;
  12. Any changes relevant to structures monitored;
  13. Interventional measures are taken (if any); and
  14. Listing of all supplies used IONM study.

 

Qualifications:

  1. CNIM is required.
  2. Proven dependability, punctuality, a strong work ethic;
  3. Ability to work independently;
  4. Ability to interact and communicate IONM needs effectively with surgical team; and,
  5. Strong computer skills.
